High School Handbook
The new high school addition is
underway. Construction crews from EA Boyer have been out working on the
site. Safety precautions are being used
to keep students and staff away from all work areas. Completion date is to be
Aug. 1st.
High School Graduation: Thursday, May 22, 2008 7:00 pm
National Honor Society - On May 2nd the High School will
be inducting the NHS students in the HS gym at 9 am.
HIGH SCHOOL ART STUDENTS
COMPETE - Several
high school students participated in different art contest: Mastadon Art
Contest @ Jefferson College; Junior Duck Stamp Contest, Wildlife Forever which
is conducted in all 50 states. One high school student, Sara Lalk, is currently
entered into the Pasta House Art Contest in St. Louis, held at the Science
Center. Stop by the middle school building and view the projects the students
have completed. The ribbons for 1st and 2nd places are
still on them! Thanks to Heath Reed, High School Art teacher for teaching and
encouraging the students.
HIGH SCHOOL BAND & CHOIR CONCERT - This years HS Band & Choir concert will
be held in the HS gym on May 5th at 7 pm.
Cheer Clinic - The High School Cheer tryout Clinic will be
in the HS Commons from 3:15-7 pm on May 7th.
HIGH SCHOOL Cheer Tryouts - The High School Cheer Tryouts will be in the
HS Commons on May 11th at 3 pm.
State Track Meet - The State
Track Meet will be held at Jefferson City this year on May 16th & 17th. Good Luck to those who qualify.
SUMMER SCHOOL - This years
Summer School will be from May 27th to June 27th from
8:00 am to 3:15 pm. Breakfast, lunch and bus transportation will be available.
NEW BAND
UNIFORMS!! The School Board of Education has agreed to purchase
new band uniforms for the middle and high school band. The monies to pay for this purchase will come
from the district balances.
A+ PROGRAM Grandview R-2 School District has decided to
start the process of applying for A+ designation with the state of Missouri.
The A+ program in Missouri allows for students to attend state community
colleges tuition free for two years. Some four year universities also grant aid
for successful graduates of the program. The application process takes a
minimum of three years and requires school assurances that the curriculum,
administration, and support of the school district are sufficient to meet
stringent guidelines set forth by the state.
NEW HEAD FOOTBALL COACH!!! Grandview High School is proud to announce
the hiring of David Stuckey as the new Head Football Coach and high school PE
teacher. Coach Stuckey is currently coaching in Marshall, Texas and has been a
head coach at Sante Fe, Missouri and Pierce City, Missouri in years prior.
Coach Stuckey also has a new addition in Mike Genge as an assistant coach.
Coach Genge has previous experience as the head coach of Lone Jack, Missouri and
most recently Hillsboro High School. Please give Coaches Stuckey and Genge a
hearty Grandview welcome as you see them around the school this spring and
summer and come support our players as they take the field in the f
